SAP Data Migration/Conversion Lead

Toronto/Montreal, ON

Employment Type: Contract Category: SAP CONTRACT Job Number: 358 Pay Rate: Very Competitive Remote/Hybrid/On-Site: Hybrid work setting

Job Description

Our Toronto/Montreal based client is seeking an experienced SAP Data Migration/Conversion Lead contractor to join their project immediately and will run 12-24 months in duration. This will be a hybrid work setting with 3 days of on-site work required. Toronto based candidates are preferred, but Montreal based candidates will also be considered.

  • The ideal candidate focuses on managing data migration and conversion aspects within an SAP implementation project, lead planning, execution, and oversight of data migration tasks to meet the objectives of the Connect Program.
  • Prior experience with greenfield implementations is mandatory, as this project focuses on new system setups rather than legacy system transformation (not a brownfield project).
  • Understanding of key SAP modules (e.g., Ariba, EWM, MDG) is essential, and experience in SAP from a Finance or Sales perspective is a plus.
  • Knowledge in SQL, LTMC, BODs, and LSWM tools is essential for data conversion tasks.
  • Strong project management experience is more important than PMP certification. The ideal candidate should be assertive, proactive, and able to push back or challenge when necessary.
  • Data Migration Leadership: Drive the planning and strategy for data migration within the SAP implementation program, aligning with business objectives, project timelines, and program direction.
  • Data Load Planning & Support: Oversee data load planning, master data interim state, and hypercare support model. Manage current and future requirements, ensuring effective program documentation.
  • Deployment & Integration Oversight: Ensure data migration components adhere to project plans and timelines, leading deployment and integration phases effectively.
  • Data Readiness Management: Support legacy data readiness, cleansing, alignment, and verification processes, and address any issues to maintain data integrity and project consistency.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements, optimizing data migration solutions for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Reporting: Generate regular project status reports, performance metrics, and other documentation for stakeholder and management review.
  • Team Collaboration & Workload Management: Support a team of 30-40 within the Data space, directly working with 10-12 people in data migration. Help prioritize and manage daily tasks within the team, facilitating smooth operations.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing data and operations would be a valuable asset.

Job Requirements

  • While this is not a functional role, practical hands-on experience in data migration is crucial for managing daily tasks and prioritization effectively.
