Job Description

Our Toronto/Montreal based client is seeking an IT Infrastructure Architect to join their organization on a full time permanent basis. This will be primarily a hybrid work settings with some occasional travel required. Please note that candidates can be based in Toronto or Montreal.

  • The IT Infrastructure Architect is responsible for developing technical architecture, managing intake for I&S, and supporting technical architecture governance.
  • Proven experience in infrastructure architecture, particularly within the manufacturing sector.
  • The candidate will join a team of Technical Architects that will collaborate with other IT functions (i.e., Security, Digital, Core Infrastructure, PMO and Regional Service Delivery Managers.) as well as engage with global business stakeholders.
  • Executing intake processes for technical architecture, including requirements gathering, consulting with other specialists, investigation of solutions, and high level design. 
  • Build trusted advisor relationships and influential partnerships with peer architect/SMEs/specialist based on strong technology expertise and leverage them to gather insights concerning on-going/upcoming project initiatives.
  • Develop high-level solution architecture that may span multiple work streams whilst identifying downstream dependencies, conduct solutions and options analysis, and lead proof of concepts.
  • Consult, develop estimates (e.g., time, resources required, cost) for projects and support with planning.
  • Consult, develop, manage, and maintain architecture standards, reference architectures, and documentation repository.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and facilitate review meetings; review technical architecture developed by others and ensure alignment to standards; support technical architecture governance processes and meetings.
  • Maintain technology roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with architects from other IT functions (e.g., Digital, Security, Applications etc..).
  • Conduct research to identify potential solutions, future trends and innovations in technology, and assess applicability to I&S.

  • Strong track record of working on upgrade projects, with the ability to manage complex integrations between infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and articulate technical concepts to a diverse audience.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Info Systems, related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years’ progressive work experience focused on architecting, designing and implementing infrastructure systems.
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical or Mining industries will also be considered.
  • 3-5 years working within the OT domain; either in a consultant capacity or as part of an organizations internal OT function.
  • Deep expertise in at least two IT/OT infrastructure domains, with broad knowledge across all domains (e.g., Network Architecture, Inventory Gathering, Situational Review, Endpoint Protection, Policy & Governance, Standards, compute, network, storage, backup’s, disaster recovery and security, etc.) with support of the full lifecycle management. From planning to implementation & maintenance.
  • Experience working in a consultant capacity or within an organizations OT environment to establish IT/OT roadmaps to a target Architecture.
  • Experience leading an assessment or evaluation of an IT/OT environment to include execution of the assessment, analysis of results, and formulation of a final report for dissemination to key stakeholders.
  • Minimum Cisco CCNA required, CCNP Certified is preferred or at least relevant qualifications from another. • Experience with security solutions such as DDoS, IPS, PCI compliance.
  • Strong communication skills written and spoken.
  • Strong Knowledge in Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Microsoft 365).
  • Strong analytical skills (quantitative and iterative), coupled with strong ability to produce detailed technical documentation at both high level and detailed design.
  • Strong understanding of architecture frameworks and best practices (e.g., TOGAF).
  • Knowledge of IT security management practices and relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP)
  • Travel as required (up to 20%, primarily within North America, with occasional global travel).

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
