Our Montreal based client is seeking a Senior Cross-Functional Analytics Lead consultant to join their project immediately and will run for one year with possibility of an extension. The ideal candidate will have experience with SAP and either Data Lake or Microsoft Azure. Additionally, they should be well versed in SAP data modelling for analytics, have a deep understanding of various process domains and functional areas within SAP, and expertise in building data models within a data lake designed for business self-serve and performance. This requires hands-on experience in SAP data/analytics projects, including migration to a data lake, and ideally, proficiency with both SAP and Azure data lake technologies. This is a fully remote position with some potential occasional travel to the client site during key project milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the cross-functional analytics efforts for the SAP Data Migration to Fabric project, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
• Partners with the Project Manager to design and structure analytics workshops, ensuring clear objectives, effective agendas, and meaningful outcomes.
• Understand and map the different process domains and functional areas within SAP, including their underlying data tables.
• Collaborate with IT Functional teams data owners and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective data models.
• Oversee and participate in project workshops, including understanding of current SAP BW/BI landscape and reports, business requirements and future state.
• Participate actively in design reviews and ensure alignment with cross functional data and reporting strategies.
• Develop and maintain data models in collaboration with our IT functional teams within a data lake environment to support business self-serve analytics.
• Help IT Functional teams to build test scenarios during functional and user acceptance testing cycles, ensuring thorough validation of the migrated data and dashboards from an end to end business perspective.
• Champion best practices for self-serve analytics and user enablement across business units.
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across all data models.
• Optimize data models for performance and scalability.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other team members on SAP and Azure data lake best practices.
 

• Proven experience in SAP data modelling for analytics.
• Strong understanding of SAP process domains and functional areas, including their underlying data tables.
• Experience with data lake technologies, particularly Azure and/or Fabric Data Lake.
• Demonstrated experience in SAP data/analytics projects, including data migration to a data lake.
• Experience designing and testing enterprise dashboards and self-serve analytics tools.
• Proficiency in SQL and other data manipulation languages (Python, Spark, Java).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with other data lake technologies and platforms.
• Understanding of Microsoft Fabric or Synapse is a plus (Preferred).
• Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices (Preferred).
• Certification in SAP or Azure data technologies (Preferred).
