Job Description

Our Alberta-based client is seeking an experienced SAP IS-OIL Architect to help conduct a deep dive project assessment. This contract would start immediately and is expected to take 1 month to complete with a good chance to deploy the solution afterwards which would lead to a much longer extension. The ideal candidate will serve as a key solution architect with operational scalability and IS-OIL best practices and will be responsible for identifying pain points in procurement, manufacturing, and logistics; Redesigning the structure to prioritize Line of Business efficiency over pure financial reporting by leveraging S/4HANA's universal journal and dimensional reporting capabilities. This will be a fully remote role with possible travel to the clients site if needed, but not confirmed at this time. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect IS-OIL configuration solutions aligned with hydrocarbon value chain strategy (upstream, midstream, downstream).
  • Implement and optimize end-to-end hydrocarbon logistics workflows (production allocation, JV accounting, retail fuel planning) in SAP S/4HANA.
  • Provide expertise on IS-OIL best practices and master data governance for hydrocarbon movement, pricing, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (reservoir engineering, trading, refinery ops) to assess integration impacts and define system configurations.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (tax, customs, HSSE) in system design and deployment.
  • Configure and optimize SAP IS-OIL solutions including Hydrocarbon Product Management, Joint Venture Accounting, and Pricing & Taxation modules to meet business requirements.
  • Implement end-to-end hydrocarbon logistics processes covering the full value chain from wellhead production to retail distribution.
  • Establish and maintain master data governance for critical O&G elements including materials, equipment, and partner networks.
  • Design and implement integrations between S/4HANA and upstream ERP systems, trading platforms, and bulk logistics solutions.
  • Develop and manage inventory reconciliation processes with specialized expertise in hydrocarbon tracking and loss management.
  • Design solutions for complex O&G planning scenarios including field production balancing and nomination processes.
  • Support Center of Excellence (COE) and Application Management Services (AMS) models for global IS-OIL deployments.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into effective SAP configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards in all system implementations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on hydrocarbon accounting and movement throughout solution lifecycle.
