Job Description

 Our Toronto based client is seeking a very senior SAP PMO Manager coming ideally that comes from a Utilities background to join their organization immediately. This will be a hybrid work setting with the exact number of days required on-site to be confirmed.

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating and structuring a PMO from the ground up and will be responsible for leading a team of Project Managers, QA, and testers.
  • Performs fulltime project management delivery activity for EGI related IT projects.
  • Proactively manages scope, cost, schedule and risks on entire portfolio of projects to ensure maximum value is delivered to stakeholders while minimizing cost and optimizing schedules. 
  • Develops comprehensive project plans and schedules including optimization, encompassing project team structure, resource assignment and financials .
  • Manages projects in accordance to the established clients standards following both standard PMBOK Waterfall and newer Agile methods where appropriate.
  • Show capacity of balancing priorities, constraints and objectives of multiple simultaneous projects and complex programs.
  • Applies project and organizational knowledge, leadership and active facilitation to support execution of project activities.
  • Develop, manage, monitor, and deliver the current and multi-year program / project(s) plan working with Business Relationship Managers, Service Managers and Enterprise teams.
  • Develop, manage, monitor, and deliver short- and long-range data driven resources demand, supply and capacity plan, estimates and model working with various stakeholders.
  • Develop, deliver, and report on program / projects key performance indicators. 
  • Drive and report on financial accuracy on forecast, actual, accruals and provide recommendations to meet financial targets. 
  • Drive the cross-program RAID (risks, action, issues, and decision) method, tool and process including first level resolution of issues and visibility / escalations to the executive leadership team where appropriate.
  • Monitor progress of the portfolio and critical projects to understand and track delivery, helping anticipate and pro-actively resolve key risks to delivery and benefits realization.
  • Synchronize deliverables across all project streams and identify critical risks & dependencies that require management attention. 
  • Manage timely onboarding and offboarding of all resources (full-time/contractors/contingent employees and system integrators) to the program/project needs.
  • Lead and ensure program / project governance processes, i.e., Gate(s) are followed and take necessary mitigation actions when there is noncompliance. 
  • Manage day-to-day tasks allocation, goal setting, team performance evaluations, coaching and mentoring.
  • Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve the project management best practices to achieve higher maturity within the business unit.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years or more of experience in IT and business/industry including leading large-scale transformation.
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate, lead diverse team and manage as well as influence change.
  • Strong understanding of several project management best practices, tools, and techniques (for example, PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2 and agile).
  • Program management skills and experience, plus significant knowledge of project planning tools with evidence of practical application.
  • Strong proficiencies in the competencies associated with Project Portfolio Control / Assurance and Program / Project Management including: o Project Planning & Execution o Metrics / Management Reporting o Project Management Governance and Compliance.
  • Ability to analyze operational and project requirements and ascertain necessary resource requirements .
  • Knowledge and familiarity with IT resourcing alternatives (contracting, outsourcing, offshoring etc.).
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, SharePoint, and ERP Systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP).
  • Experience managing budgets including budget, spend, and business case development.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to details and ability to present in a clear and succinct manner at a strategic level.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, oral and written communication and collaboration skills with all levels of management and the ability to motivate teams to apply skills and techniques to solve dynamic and complex problems.
  • Ability to initiate and manage cultural change amongst operational groups to facilitate the gathering of necessary data in a timely manner. 
  • Highly disciplined and professional in regard to handling confidential information.
  • Ability to manage concurrent initiatives and conflicting priorities.
  • Effective time management - able to manage own work, and provide direction to others.
