Job Description

Our Toronto based client is seeking an SAP Project Manager to join their organization on a permanent full-time basis. This will be a hybrid work setting.The Project Manager will work with internal and external stakeholder closely to manage project progress, resolve issues, and ensure the project aligns with strategic business objectives.

 

  • Our ideal candidate is a results-driven professional with extensive experience in SAP implementations, particularly in PPDS and IBP, who possesses a strong blend of business acumen and technical expertise.
  • Min. 8 years of project delivery experience, with at least 3 years of experience as a Project Manager leading SAP S/4HANA implementations.
  • Minimum of 2 years of SAP ERP implementation experience in the manufacturing industries is required, experience in Food and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industries would be an asset.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Rise, particularly in modules such as Production Planning (PP)/Detailed Scheduling (DS), Integrated Business Planning (IBP), and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).
  • Strong business acumen and technical expertise to lead implementation efforts for a team of 40 IT team members and 6 dedicated to the SAP project.
  • Proven experience in large-scale SAP implementations (PPDS, IBP preferred).
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and align business objectives with technical solutions.
  • Strong leadership, deep knowledge of SAP systems and business processes, and effective communication skills to collaborate across multiple teams and departments.
  • Ensure alignment of implementation strategy, project plan, work plan, and budget with business goals and timelines.
  • Collaborate with third-party integrator & the project team to define, maintain, and control the project scope preventing scope creep.
  • Lead the issue resolution process, ensuring prompt and effective solutions to obstacles impacting the project timeline or quality.
  • Provide updates to the Steering Committee, Project Sponsor, and relevant stakeholders on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the project team, business stakeholders, and third-party partners/service providers and ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to ensure that business processes are well understood and supported by SAP solutions.
  • Act as a champion for SAP Best Practices, ensuring that the project team and steering committee adhere to industry-standard methodologies.
  • Partner with the change management team to seamlessly integrate project outcomes with organizational change initiatives.
  • Plan & coordinate and manage the delivery of SAP S/4HANA implementation to maximize results and adoption by end users.
  • Facilitate the timely completion of project deliverables, ensuring that each phase meets established requirements and obtains appropriate sign-off.
  • Work closely with the integrator to facilitate system configuration & integration, ensuring alignment with business requirements and best practices.
  • Drive adherence to SAP best practices, ensuring that SAP functionalities are used to their maximum potential for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure the implementation of training programs for key users, empowering the organization to successfully adopt new systems and processes.
  • Proactively identify potential project deviations and implement corrective actions as necessary to stay on track.
  • Track and manage issues across the project, ensuring they are addressed in a timely manner and documented accordingly.
  • Facilitate issue resolution meetings and maintain a risk register to track potential challenges.
  • Encourage the identification and implementation of process improvements and efficiencies throughout the SAP implementation lifecycle.
  • Share knowledge and lessons learned with the project team to improve future project delivery.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Project Management Certifications (CAPM, PMP, PRINCE2, M_o_P, PfMP, PgMP, PMI-RCP, or other) are an asset.
  • Experience with SAP integration technologies (e.g., PI/PO, Web Services, EDI) is an asset.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, complex project environment with multiple interdependencies across teams, and business units.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing project risks and issues.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative working environment and ensure alignment between business needs and SAP capabilities.
