Job Description

Our Edmonton client is seeking a SAP Senior Project Manager to join their project starting immediately and will run for 1 year. This will be a hybrid role with on site flexibility for the right candidate.

  • The Senior Project Manager will lead projects, working with the team, service providers, and clients to plan, develop, and deliver major initiatives.
  • Providing project management leaders for large and complex projects.
  • Government Experience is highly preferred.
  • Expertise and input to development of project cases.
  • Monitor work plans for project tasks.
  • Lead in project outcome measurement.
  • Mentorship and goal setting.
  • Must understand the business needs of stakeholders and help define technical requirements.

Project Management Leadership:

  • Lead large and complex projects, ensuring alignment with strategic direction and policies.
  • Develop project business cases, business analysis, process models, project definitions, and requests for proposals.
  • Define project scope, develop work plans, sequence activities, allocate resources, and determine project reporting schedules.
  • Execute project activities, monitor progress, adjust plans as necessary, and review quality of work.
  • Manage risk assessment and mitigation plans.
  • Develop and manage issue logs and post-implementation review strategies.
  • Provide status reporting and lead in project outcome measurement.
  • Ensure business processes support transition to operations within P&TE.

Expert Advice and Support:

  • Inform management of relevant issues and support the development of responses and recommendations.
  • Address escalated issues related to project management standards and processes.
  • Draft responses to Action Requests, briefing notes, and compiled research.
  • Support responses to information requests and decision-making by preparing correspondence, reports, recommendations, and presentations.
  • Implement process improvements and analyze trends to enhance the clients mandate.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage and consult with stakeholders to identify business needs and address issues.
  • Build collaborative relationships and develop networks with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in committees, teams, and working groups.
  • Coordinate joint projects and deliverables with Technology and Innovation divisions.
  • Collaborate with the Business & Information Excellence (B&IE) team on organizational readiness, communications, and training functions.

Equipment Requirements: 

  • Preferred if the resource has their own equipment; client will provide laptop/desktop if necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 6 years: Experience defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.
  • 6 years: Experience developing project deliverables, including project charters and business cases.
  • 6 years: Experience in a project management role.
  • 4 years: Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • 4 years: Experience developing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships across the organization.
  • 4 years: Experience exercising resourcefulness when making recommendations on highly technical issues.
  • 2 years: Experience successfully implementing IT solutions in an environment with project dependencies.
  • 4 years: Experience with various software development methodologies (e.g., agile, waterfall).
  • 2 years: Experience working as a Project Manager on large, complex custom software projects.
  • 2 years: Experience working in an enterprise architect environment.
  • 3 years: Experience working in or for the public sector.
  • 4 years: Senior leadership experience working in the public sector (ideally Canada) with a focus on IT projects.
  • Currently active PMP or PGMP Certification issued by the Project Management Institute.

Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
