Our Calgary based client is seeking an experienced SAP Technical Cloud Architect to join their project immediately and will run until March 2027, with possibility of an extension. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture or related roles, with a strong track record of designing large-scale AWS and hybrid cloud environments, and expertise spanning AWS networking, cloud security, identity, encryption, certificates, observability, and core platform services, along with proven ability to integrate enterprise networks, SaaS platforms, and SAP-managed cloud services into secure, well-functioning hybrid environments. This will be a fully remote work setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end hybrid architecture – Design the full AWS + SAP S/4HANA RISE cloud environment, including VPC topology, routing, security groups, and integration with SAP BTP, IAS/IPS, and enterprise systems.
- Define connectivity & security patterns – Architect network, identity, and trust integrations (Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, DNS, SSO, encryption, certificates) to enable secure, low-latency communication across the hybrid landscape.
- Produce architecture artifacts – Create detailed diagrams, design documents, and architecture decision records (ADRs) that capture rationales, trade-offs, and ownership boundaries.
- Guide implementation & cutover – Develop runbooks and implementation plans for provisioning, configuration, and cutover; coordinate SIs and internal teams during build and transition phases.
- Govern and review deliverables – Validate SI outputs against approved architecture and standards through regular reviews; ensure compliance with enterprise policies.
- Enable operational readiness – Produce support documentation (diagrams, baselines, troubleshooting guides, monitoring setups) for smooth handover to long-term support teams.
- Collaborate across teams – Work with network, security, SAP Basis, infrastructure, and integration teams to resolve interdependencies and remove roadblocks.
- Drive continuous improvement – Advocate for automation (IaC), cost optimization, performance scaling, and incorporate lessons learned from similar large-scale SAP cloud transformations.
